McCrouryBillyBubBillie Bub McCoury went to sleep in Christ at the age of 79 on January 5, 2012, in Temple, Texas.  Billie Bub was born on January 6, 1932 to James Maynard McCoury and Juanita Keeney McCoury in Chappel, Texas.  Billie Bub was a 1949 graduate of San Saba High School.  On April 15, 1950, he married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Kirkpatrick.  In January of 1953, he was called to serve in the US Army and achieved the rank of Sergeant.  He was a carpenter and rancher, a member of the Bend-Chappel Methodist Church in Bend, Texas and a member of Gideons International.

Billie Bub McCoury is survived by his two sons Gregg McCoury and wife LaVada of San Saba, and Steven McCoury and wife Karen of Chappel; grandchildren Michelle McCoury Lock and husband Jeremiah of Elgin, Waylon McCoury and wife Sarah of San Saba, Ryan McCoury and wife Ashley of Merkel, Joshua McCoury of Pecos, and Weston McCoury and wife Savannah of Bend; great-grandchildren Mahaila, Ross, and Breck McCoury, Colton and  Jenna McCoury, Logan Lock and Bailey Blackburn; brother Phil B. McCoury and wife Winnie Lou of Bend; and nieces Diane Dowdy and Phyllis Brookshire. 

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Carolyn K. McCoury.

A visitation will be held on January 9, 2012 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Blaylock Funeral Chapel in San Saba.  A graveside service will be held on January 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Chappel Cemetery with Dr. Glennon Mays officiating, interment to follow at Chappel Cemetery in Chappel, Texas.  Pall Bearers are Gregg McCoury, Steven McCoury, Waylon McCoury, Ryan McCoury, Josh McCoury, Weston McCoury and Phil B. McCoury.  Honorary Pall Bearers are Mark Hartley, Stephen Branch, Forrest McGregor, and members of the San Saba Gideon Camp.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to San Saba County EMS, Gideons International or the Chappel Cemetery Association.
