Billie E. Grady (Bill) was born in McCullough County on December 17, 1931 to William Hobert Grady and Tina Bell (Cowin) Grady. He married Barbara White on October 30, 1954 in Mullin, Texas.
Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years Barbara White Grady, two sons, Kim A. Grady and wife, Linda of Ballinger, Texas, and Billy J. Grady and wife, Dana of Brownwood, Texas. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Dustin Grady, Bodie Grady, Cody Grady, Casey Grady, and Megan Grady, as well as 3 great grandchildren, Cody Borgwald, Lainey Butler, and Tripp Grady. Bill is also survived by a half-sister, Amalee (Grady) Kibbey of Irving, Texas, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
Bill was a past Master Mason and a proud member of the Mullin Masonic Lodge #806, having earned his 50 year service pin in 2014. He was a Shriner and Scottish Rites. Bill served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and was a Sergeant in the Texas State Guard. Bill was previously employed by Texaco for 12 years and the Brownwood Police Department as an Investigator/Juvenile Officer for 10 years. He was a production supervisor for Petro Lewis Oil Co. over the Gulf Coast Region in El Campo, Texas for 5 years before returning to Brownwood. Bill retired from the position of Attendance/Truancy Officer for the Brownwood ISD in 1996 at which time he and Barbara moved to Mullin, Texas.
Bill cared deeply for his wife and family. He loved to cook breakfast for his family and spending time with his grandchildren. Bill was a very generous person and will be missed my numerous loyal friends and his faithful dog, Junior.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 21, 2015 in the Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel, with Dallas Houston and Bill Slaymaker officiating, interment will follow in the Cox Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Monday evening at Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood. The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Mullin Masonic Lodge #806.
