Big Country Ford, five area high schools, and members of the Brownwood area raised $5400.00 for five local high school’s project graduation at a recent test drive event as part of Ford Motor Companies’ DRIVE ONE 4 UR SCHOOL program. Two hundred seventy area residents drove a Ford vehicle at the Brownwood Coliseum October 1st, and Big Country Ford and Ford Motor Company donated $20.00 for each test drive, with funds going to project graduation at Bangs, Brownwood, Early, May, and Zephyr high schools.
“I am more than thrilled that so many people from our local communties turned out to support project graduation, and I’ve never been more proud to be a Ford Dealer. Participants had a chance to take a fun, casual drive in one of our vehicles, while lending our students and community a much needed helping hand.” said Thomas Scull, General Manager of Big Country Ford Lincoln.
Since the program’s inception in 2007, the DRIVE ONE 4 UR SCHOOL program has generated over $7 million in donations for high schools nationwide. The money raised from the DRIVE ONE 4 UR SCHOOL program has helped ensure that extracurricular activities continue in local communties despite budgetary constraints and funding cuts.
Schools set up booths with fundraising items such as baked goods, hot dogs and BBQ.
