bigbrothersbigsisterslogoBig Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) has been approved to hold charitable Bingo in Brown County. The Bingo sessions will be held on Thursdays at 7 p.m. at Grand Starz, 2323 Belle Plain in Brownwood.  The first session will be held May 17th.

Cash prizes will be awarded for Bingo. Occasional door prizes will be given away when available. Cost for the session of 10 games is $7. Event tickets will also be available. Attendance each week will enter participants for a chance to win a Big Brothers Big Sisters Wheels and Deals ticket.

The Wheels and Deals event held each fall includes an evening of entertainment and a meal for two. The ticket holder is registered in a reverse raffle drawing for a choice of one of three vehicles offered by local dealerships. Two tickets will be given away to Bingo players in the fall prior to the event. Participants must be present to win the tickets but do not have to be present to win the vehicle. Dates and vehicles will be announced at a later date.

Bingo has proven to be a significant fundraiser for non-profit agencies across the state. Proceeds from the BBBS Charitable Bingo will support the matching of local children with adult mentors to help them reach their full potential.

Last year nationally, 94% of the children in the BBBS program were promoted to the next grade level and 99% were not involved in delinquent behaviors. There were no delinquent behaviors reported with BBBS participants in Brown County.

Research shows that through the positive impact of a match relationship, children are more likely to graduate from high school and less likely to use drugs, alcohol or engage in high-risk behaviors.  They will have more opportunity to reach their highest potential with the encouragement that an adult mentor can add to their life. Volunteers are asked to spend time with a child at least twice a month.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Brown County is a United Way agency primarily supported by local donations. For more information contact Gina Jameson at 325-643-5600 or gjameson@bbbstx.org. Lic#17508006321.
