Brownwood High School senior and Lion basketball player Cory Richardson has been selected to play in the 27th Annual Chicken Express All-Star Classic on Saturday, March 26th at Mineral Wells High School. Richardson is the son of Michael and Sandra Richardson of Brownwood.
Players were chosen from coaches’ nominations from 60 different schools in fourteen counties surrounding Mineral Wells. All players have honors ranging from All Tournament to All State, making these student athletes are the best of the best. The girls’ teams will begin the games with tip off at 3:00 p.m. The boys’ game will follow immediately after the girls’ game. The public is invited to attend.
The 27th Annual Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce – Chicken Express All-Star Basketball Classic is the North Texas Area’s oldest and most recognized event of its kind, according to organizers.
Tickets are available at the gate: $5.00 Adults, $3.00 Students, and children under school age are free.
As an added attraction, there will be a three point shooting contest at halftime of both games. Chicken Express will award a $1000 scholarship to the winner of both the boy’s and the girl’s contests. In order to comply with the NCAA rules, the finances will be sent directly to the school of the winners’ choice to be used for their education only. Only those players who intend to go to college are eligible to participate.
