Another team receiving first place was (left to right) Mackey Gibson and Wade Holden with a kitchen cabinet shown below.
Sponsor and Building Trades teacher, Cody Smith, explained how proud he was of the students and their work.
“Brownwood High School competed against all other high schools in the state, from 1A-5A schools,” said Smith. “I’m very proud of the students for their hard work and dedication.”
The advanced building trades class is made up of BHS juniors and seniors. In 2011 it had been 36 years since BHS won best of show at the State SkillsUSA competition with a breadbox built by Chris Bryant & Jacob Bryant. Since then, the tradition has continued with 2012 Auto Tech students winning Best of Show in 2012 with their restoration of a 1947 Ford 8N Tractor, followed by this 2013 win.
