bisd Brownwood TX This year students in the Brownwood High School Junior Practicum of Health Science Class took the National Healthcare Foundation Skills Assessment test as their final exam.

This test measures the mastery of basic skills and knowledge that workers in all aspects of the health industry need to know. Students scoring 60 percent or higher on the National Health Science Assessment (post-test only) receive a certificate recognizing their accomplishment.

“This year we had a one-hundred percent passing rate,” said BHS Health Science teacher, Bonita Deen noting that 15 practicum students passed the test with at least a minimum score of sixty percent.  “I am beyond amazed at this accomplishment. Last year was our first year to take this test and we had 10 out of 28 students pass.”

The certificate received by the students will be a noteworthy addition to their resumes and college applications.

“I am so proud of what these kids have accomplished,” said Deen. “Each year we keep raising the bar higher. The sky is the limit to what we can accomplish. Every year these students amaze me.”
