The BHS Lions Boys Cross Country Team placed first at the Fort Worth Invitational Cross Country Meet at Trinity Park on Saturday, September 13th. Varsity girls also had a successful meet placing 3rd. The meet was hosted by Fort Worth Paschal High School.
The Lions had four boys in the top ten 4A runners in the 5000 meter event. Justin Gomez earned 2nd place with a run of 17:37.21, followed by Hugo Yebra in third with 17:41.31. Reid Longabaugh placed 6th with a run of 18:12.97 and Ben Berger placed 7th with a time of 18:28:51.The Lions took first place with 29 points, followed by Boyd High School – 35 and Fort Worth Diamond Hill – 60.
In the girls’ 4A 5000 meter event, Jessica Romero of BHS ran a 19:31.75. The BHS varsity girls placed 3rd with 148 points. First place went to Northwest High School of Justin, TX with 36 point. Second place with 69 points was Grapevine High School.
The Lady Lions varsity team is currently ranked 8th in the state according to Cross Country Coach Don Hood.
Both the Lions and Lady Lions will compete next at the Reunion Run in Brownwood on Saturday, September 20th.
