The Brownwood High School’s Lady Lion Soccer team has advanced to the Region III – 4A Sectional playoff round and will face Waco University this Friday at 7 PM in Copperas Cove.
The Lady Lions beat Nacogdoches 2-0 Friday night, March 28th, earning the area title.
According to Coach J.B. Gibbs, goal scorers vs. Nacogdoches were Alex Bernal (off a corner kick 1:30 into the game) and Jen Martinez (on a long shot 30 seconds before halftime).
Goalkeeper was Katelyn Murphy and she had a couple of big saves, according to Gibbs.
“Our back line, made up of Naomi Rosato, Jeane Standridge, Josie Borgia, Maddie Oines, and Jayme Martinez was solid and kept Nacogdoches away from our goal most of the game,” said Gibbs. “It was a great performance by the girls to win the Area round.”
The Lady Lions stand at a 16-5-1 record on the season.
Brownwood fans are encouraged to enjoy the playoff action Friday night.
