Five members from the Brownwood High School Key Club attended the 2012 Texas-Oklahoma District Key Club Convention, April 12th-15th, in Dallas, Texas.
Club Advisor Pam Rider accompanied Austin Robinson, Brandi Prado, Steve Romero, Linda Luna, and Marcela Leal to the convention where the Brownwood Key Club was ranked #20 in the Top 25 Clubs of the Texas-Oklahoma Key Club District.
The club received patches for the Governor’s Project (Operation Over Watch), the District Project (Diabetes Awareness) and for Distinguished Website. In addition, a 2nd place trophy was awarded to the BHS key club for a non-digital poster, designed by Marcela Leal. The theme for the poster was “Promoting Key Club” (Promotion of the Key Club in general and not just at your school). The poster has qualified to compete at the 2012 International Key Club Convention that will be held in July.
The club’s newsletters, edited and submitted by Linda Luna, placed in the top five that were nominated, and Key Club President Brandi Prado received a $1,000 Stephen Sapaugh Memorial scholarship, awarded by the Texas-Oklahoma Kiwanis Foundation. Prado was 1 of 18 club members that received scholarships at the convention.
