Brownwood High School Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) along with BHS Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) hosted a sewing camp for 4th-12th grade students from August 4th to August 6th.
Students learned basic sewing skills that included measuring, cutting out patterns and fabric, threading and operating the sewing machine, using an iron, hemming, turning a tube, and how to make a pocket.Twenty students completed the three-day camp, with most completing the chosen pattern, which was an apron.
The camp was taught by BHS Family and Consumer Science teachers Connie Sliger and Mitzi Cockerham. CaSandra Reiger and Amanda Crisp also provided assistance during the camp and Mrs. Sliger and Mrs. Cockerham expressed great appreciation for their help.
“Sewing camp was a great success this year,” said Sliger. “The BHS FCS Department greatly appreciates everyone’s support.”
