FashionDesignClass

Brownwood High School’s Fashion Design class, taught by Mrs. Connie Sliger, put their design skills to the test recently, creating art quilts to donate to the Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative. AAQI auctions these quilts to raise money for Alzheimer’s research. Donated Quilts average $25 to $30 and may be bid on at the following website: http://www.alzquilts.org/quiltsforsale.html.

To construct an art quilt that is eligible for the auction, students must meet certain requirements. Quilts must be 9 inches by 12 inches, include all technical information about the materials and techniques used and students must name each quilt. AAQI also prefers that each art quilt have Fast Finish Triangles added as a hanger to better display the art quilt. Students may also dedicate their quilt to honor someone who has, or had Alzheimer’s. If they choose, the students may include a note to the art quilt purchaser about their dedication on the back of each quilt.

Students that participated in the AAQI project were: Elisa Chavez, Sierra Vela, Brooke Ellis, Cheyenne Munguia, Haley McDonald, Jon Wardenburg, Paige Goodwin, Ashton Estes, and Courtnee Watson.
