Brownwood High School Color Guard members were honored during the 2011 Band Leadership Camp at Howard Payne University on June 24, when they were named as All-Americans.
Of the 13 members present at the camp, eight members received All-American status which entitles them to perform at the 2012 Capital One Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida on January 2, 2012. This bowl game will feature the top teams of the Big Ten and the SEC. All-American color guard members Shayla Biessener, Meagan Moore, Allison Aguirre, Lindsey McKinney, Veda Vinson, Nani Kamitches, Raylene Camp, and Elizabeth Chancellor will travel to Orlando December 29-January 3.
Other awards received as a team for the BHS Color Guard were Outstanding School Flag Line and Best Original Routine.
