Nineteen Brownwood High School Choir students traveled to Pflugerville to compete in the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Competition which was held Monday, May 27th.
To qualify to compete in the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Competition ate solo and ensemble contest, students were required to sing a difficulty level 1 and receive a 1 or superior rating at the Regional Solo & Ensemble Contest, held at Howard Payne University on February 23rd.
The following BHS choir students received a 1 or Superior rating at state competition:
Emily Dick – Senior
Aaron Pulley – Senior
Meredith Underwood – Senior
Trey Fawcett – Junior
Shelbi Winstead – Sophomore
Kalin Young – Sophomore
Caleb Bostick – Freshman
McKenna McDonald – Freshman
In addition, Meredith Underwood and Trey Fawcett (pictured left to right below) were selected as “Outstanding Performers” in the competition. Only 305 of the approximately 95,000 regional music competitors and 24,000 musicians who perform at TSSEC earned the distinguished honor of being recognized as an Outstanding Performer.
The BHS Choir department also noted a special thanks to James Ervin for accompanying all of these students on the piano.
