It’s been 36 years since Brownwood won the award for Best of Show at the Texas State Skills USA competition and two students brought the honor back home this year.
Brownwood High School Building Trades Program took two projects to the Texas state Skills USA competition in Corpus Christi, Texas on March 31st-April 2nd. Chris Bryant and Jacob Bryant scored a perfect 100 out of a possible 100 points to win first place and Best of Show with their old fashioned roll top bread box. Jose Rodriguez and Chris Cotton scored a 91 out of a possible 100 points to win a first place ribbon with their decorative gun rack.
BHS Building Trades teacher Cody Smith said the boys had a great time at the competition and had a chance to visit the beach for a cold swim, toured the Texas State Aquarium, and enjoyed a dance at the end of the competition.
