On April 12th, the Brownwood High School band competed in the UIL Concert & Sight-reading Contest in Llano, TX. The band, directed by Richard Graham, brought home a 7th consecutive Sweepstakes Award for their performance which included the songs “Amazing Grace”, “His Honor”, and “Undertow”.
“The students really worked hard on their program this year,” said Graham, adding that the band deserved some recognition for their performance of the different pieces. “‘His Honor’ was a great show of woodwind technique and ‘Amazing Grace’ featured a tremendous solo by Brock Allen. ‘Undertow’ is just a complete showcase of all of our wonderful band kids.”
Recordings of the songs can be found online at www.brownwoodisd.org/bhsband. The next performance is scheduled for April 28th, when the band plays at the Myerson in Dallas for their Spring Trip.
