Brownwood High School students recently nominated four young ladies who will be in the running for the 2016 BHS Homecoming Queen.  Voting for this honor will take place this week and the Queen will be announced at the Homecoming game against Alvarado on Friday, September 16th, 2016.

Below are short biographies for each homecoming nominee:

KaylaMcFarden

Kayla McFarden is the daughter of Kyle and Kim Ellis and Steven and Kim McFarden.

Throughout high school she has been involved in FFA, Student Council, FCA, Choices Mentoring Program, and National Honor Society. She is also an active member at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Kayla was one of three Brownwood High School students to be selected for R.Y.L.A leadership camp, and one of two females to be selected for Girls State Camp.

She is also a member of girl’s athletics, where she participates in volleyball, softball, and track. She was a four-year letterman in varsity softball and was voted MVP her sophomore year, along with first team All-District her freshman, and sophomore year. In volleyball Kayla was defensive MVP her junior year, and was first team All-District the past 2 years. In track she qualified for regionals her sophomore and junior year. Kayla qualified for state in both pole vault and softball this past year and plans to go again this year.

Kayla has been awarded magna cum lade every year and received a math award her sophomore year.

After high school, Kayla plans to attend either Texas Tech or Texas A&M University to pursue a nursing degree and will continuing her education to become a physician’s assistant.

SydneyRodriguez

Sydney Rodriguez is the daughter of Manuel and Jenifer Rodriguez. Sydney has two younger sisters, Sloan who is in fifth grade and Sinclaire who is in fourth grade.

Sydney was born and raised in Brownwood. She is a member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church.

During her years at Brownwood High, she participated in athletics, playing soccer her freshman through junior year, softball her freshman year, volleyball her freshman and sophomore year, and cheerleading her sophomore year. She is also a member of key club, student council, FCA, HOSA, and has been a football trainer since her junior year.

Sydney plans to attend Texas State University and major in nursing.  Her second choice of colleges is Tarleton State University.

BreyleSauseda

Breyle Sauseda is the daughter of Joey and Misty Fry and the older sister of Hudson Fry.

She is an active member of Calvary Baptist Church and the youth group at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church.

She participates in cross country, track, and basketball where she has received Academic All-District honors and was a member of the historic Lady Lion basketball team that reached the first ever regional tournament. Throughout the school year, Breyle volunteers 25 plus hours while being involved with HOSA, FCA, Student Council, Key Club, and the Choices Mentoring Program. Breyle also currently serves as president for the National Honor Society.

Upon graduation, Breyle plans to attend college to pursue a career in nurse anesthesia.

TyanneSelvieStewart

Tyanne Selvie-Stewart is the daughter of Yohanna and Spencer Stewart.  She is the younger sister of Marques Barnes and older sister to Kenya Barnes.

Tyanne is involved in FCCLA and is a member of the varsity basketball team.  She plans on continuing her basketball career at the collegiate level.

At this time, Tyanne is undecided on what school she will attend, but hopes one day to pursue a career as a forensic scientist.
