BFDlogoSmallReports released for the week of November 14th through November 20th from the Brownwood Fire Department indicate responses to 18 medical emergencies, 3 motor vehicle accidents, 4 hazardous material regarding possible gas leaks, and 14 fire calls.

Sunday, November 14

*12:21am-BFD was called to the 2500 block of Waco Avenue for a report of an outside fire.  Firefighters arrived to find a group of people around a barrel fire.  Police on scene requested the fire to be put out according to city ordinance.  The fire was extinguished by fire personnel.

*7:17am-BFD responded to the 1100 block of Riverside Drive to find that a fire alarm had sounded due to cooking.  The alarm was reset and fire personnel cleared the scene.

*11:04am-BFD was dispatched to the 200 block of Bluffview Drive in response to a fire call.  The incident was a small brush fire ignited by a cigarette.  The fire was extinguished.

*9:51pm-BFD was called to a vehicle fire in the 800 block of Early Blvd.  Firecrews arrived to find the vehicle fully involved and two businesses at risk because of the fire.  The fire was extinguished and neither business was damaged.

Monday, November 15

*9:06am-BFD responded to a fire call in the 3200 block of Stephen F. Austin.  The incident was found to be an overheated AC/Heater motor.

*12:42pm-BFD was called to a grass fire in the 3300 block of CR 234.  A small grass fire in the ditch was extinguished and the land owner was contacted.

*12:59pm-BFD was dispatched to a grass fire in the 3200 block of Milam Drive.  Firefighters arrived to find a small authorized controlled burn.

Tuesday, November 16

*5:12pm-BFD was called to a gas leak in the 2200 block of Center where gas was found to be leaking from the meter.  Firefighters turned the off the meter valve and called Atmos.

Wednesday, November 17

*7:59am-BFD responded to a two vehicle accident with minor injuries at the foot of Bangs Hill.

*BFD assisted Early VFD with the containment and extinguishment of a small grass fire on Whispering Oaks Lane.

*5:13pm-BFD was dispatched to the 1000 block of W. Commerce to a two vehicle accident with no injuries.  BFD provided first aid and checked for injuries.

*8:07pm-BFD was called to a brush fire at CR 225 and CR 228.  Booster 1 & Brush 2 along with the Fire Marshall, Brookesmith VFD, Winchell VFD, and Early VFDs responded to a 25 acre grass fire.

Thursday, November 18

*6:17am-BFD responded to a call regarding a smell of smoke in the 300 block of Simmons Street.  Fire crews investigated the smell of smoke in the home and it was determined to be faulty wiring on a refrigerator.

Friday, November 20

*3:45pm-BFD assisted the National Guard with a grass fire in the 5600 block of FM 45.

*4:42pm-BFD was dispatched to a two car motor vehicle accident in the 800 block of W. Commerce.  There were minor injuries and BFD provided first aid.

*9:42pm-BFD was called to the 1700 block of 7th Street.  Firefighters arrived to find a small pit fire.  BFD extinguished the fire and cleared the scene.

*11:44pm-BFD was notified that a pit fire (which had been extinguished in the above 9:42pm call) had been re-lit in the 1700 block of 7th Street.  Brownwood Police were on scene to instruct the residents not to restart the fire and advised of the city ordinance.  The fire was extinguished.
