Reports released for the week of August 7th through August 13th from the Brownwood Fire Department indicate responses to 17 medical emergencies, 2 motor vehicle accidents, 3 fire calls, 1 fire hazard, 1 possible gas leak, 1 hazardous materials call, and 1 false alarm.
Tuesday, August 9
*7:12pm – BFD responded to a two vehicle accident near the intersection of Bluffview Drive and San Benito. Firefighters checked for injuries and provided first aid.
Wednesday, August 10
*2:15am – BFD received a complaint of a fire hazard in the 400 block of W. Lee Street. Fire crews arrived to find a window unit overloading a breaker. The unit was unplugged and fire crews cleared the scene.
Friday, August 12
*9:29pm – BFD was dispatched to a two vehicle accident at Dukes Pub & Grill. Guardian transported injured to Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
*9:40pm – BFD was called to the 400 block of W. Lee regarding the smell of smoke. Nothing was found after investigating scene.
Saturday, August 13
*9:19am – BFD was dispatched to a gas leak in the 1800 block of Comanche Road. After investigating it was determined to be the pop off valve from gas meter.
*11:47am – BFD responded to a hazardous materials call in the 900 block of Vine Street regarding a possible hazmat leak from a railcar. Upon arrival, contact was made with railroad representative who notified fire crews there was no danger.
*2:42pm – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 2700 block of Vincent. Firefighters arrived on scene and found nothing showing. After investigation, nothing was found. Oncor was also notified and the power was shut off to the building.
*5:49pm – BFD was called to an alarm activation at Redstone Retirement Center. After investigation, it was determined that a power surge set off the fire alarm.
*6:03pm – BFD was dispatched to a fire call near Asbury and Good Shepherd. A transformer had blown and Oncor was notified.
