Reports released for the week of May 27-June 2, 2012 from the Brownwood Fire Department indicate responses to 23 medical emergencies, 3 motor vehicle accident, 8 fire calls, and 5 hazardous material calls.

Sunday, May 27
*4:59pm – BFD responded to a hazardous materials call in the 1100 block of Magnolia. A carbon monoxide investigation was performed.
*9:01pm – BFD was dispatched to a hazardous materials call in the 300 block of Norwood, where a truck struck a gas meter. Atmos was notified.
Monday, May 28
*12:02am – BFD was called to a fire in the 2500 block of Durham where it was determined that clothes were being burned. The occupant of the residence was advised of city burn codes.
*9:25pm – BFD was called to a fire in the 1600 block of 4th Street. The incident was determined to be arcing from shorted electrical equipment.
*10:45pm – BFD responded to a Fire Call in the 300 block of Bluffview. The incident was determined to be a dumpster receptacle fire.
Tuesday, May 29
*12:03am – BFD responded to a severe weather call in the 1700 block of Dublin Street where a roof had blown off during the storm. Fire Crews were able to nail roof back on for the night.
*2:18pm – BFD was dispatched to a hazardous materials call in the 2300 block of Magnolia, where they investigated the smell of gas in the area. Upon arrival, the apartment manager advised fire crews that there was no gas in any of the apartments and nothing was found by firefighters.
*3:10pm – BFD was called to a fire in the 7800 block of CR 225 regarding smoke alarm activation. Upon arrival, there was nothing showing and the incident was determined an unintentional alarm activation.
Wednesday, May 30
*9:46am – BFD was called to an agency assist in the 2700 Brady Avenue. Police Department requested ladder to assist in a possible burglary.
*10:18am – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 700 block of Ave G. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a single story wood frame structure with nothing showing. Owners had put the fire out. The thermal camera was used to check for any fire extension; however, nothing was found.
*10:33am – BFD responded to a hazardous materials call in the Avenue C/Vincent area. The incident was determined to be a power line down. A tree struck a line and broke the pole. The tree and pole were blocking the street. Verizon was notified.
*12:07pm – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 2500 block of Waco Street. Incident was determined to be an arcing power line in front of a residence and Oncor was notified.
*6:48pm – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 400 block of Mulberry Street. Incident was determined to be an alarm system malfunction.
*8:01pm – BFD responded to a fire call in the 1800 block of 8 1/2 Street. Incident was determined to be arcing power lines in the tree due to high winds. Oncor was notified.
*8:57pm – BFD was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in the 700 block of Avenue J involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. There were no injuries.
*9:26pm – BFD was called to a fire in the 2600 block of Vincent. The incident was determined to be arcing power lines in an alley.
Thursday, May 31
*12:04pm – BFD helped with a community relations call at 401 N Main Street. A child was locked inside a running vehicle. Fire Crews unlocked the vehicle and the child was returned to the parents.
Friday, June 1
*7:23am – BFD responded to a single-vehicle accident in the 3600 block of 4th Street. The vehicle jumped the curb and struck the front of a home.
*10:38am – BFD was dispatched to a hazardous materials call in the 400 block of Wesley Street. Firefighters responded to a call of smell of smoke in the building. After investigation, it was determined to be an electrical/wiring problem.
Saturday, June 2
*4:33am – BFD responded to a hazardous materials call in the 1300 block of Austin Avenue regarding the smell of gas in the area. Maintenance department at the location was notified.
*10:51am – BFD responded to a two-vehicle accident at the area of 14th Street and Asbury. Firefighters checked for injuries and provided first aid.
