Tuesday, May 13
*4:36 PM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 500 block of W. Commerce for an alarm activation. Work being done in the building caused the alarm to be activated and the incident was determined to be a false alarm.
Wednesday, May 14
*11:10 AM – BFD responded to a hazardous materials call in the 100 block of E. Commerce. A large hydraulic fluid leak was on the roadway. Texas Department of Transportation was notified.
*2:17 PM – BFD was called to a fire in the 1800 block of Avenue D regarding smoke in the area. The owner of the property was burning wire and was advised of burn codes. The fire was extinguished.
Thursday, May 15
*2:37 AM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call at Buckhorn Estates. Firefighters assisted Bangs VFD with a grass fire. Upon arrival, the fire was found to be in a large pit.*3:02 AM – BFD responded to a single vehicle accident in the 1800 block of Vincent. A single vehicle had struck a tree and the vehicle was abandoned upon fire fighter’s arrival.
*8:21 PM – BFD was dispatched to a hazardous materials call in the 2200 block of Durham Avenue. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a gas line had been cut while the owner was digging a hole. The gas meter was cut off and Atmos was notified.
Friday, May 16
*2:09 PM – BFD was called to a fire in the 2100 block of 14th Street. Fire crews arrived on scene with Brownwood Police Department to find a resident burning tree stumps. The resident was asked to put the fire out and was informed of no burning allowed in the city limits.
Saturday, May 17
*2:59 AM – BFD was dispatched to a fire on Crockett Drive. Firefighters arrived on scene to find an electric pole connection at the fuse arcing. Oncor was notified.
Sunday, May 18
*11:07 AM – BFD responded to a two-vehicle accident with no injuries in the 1400 block of Austin Avenue involving 2 vehicles.
Monday, May 19
*11:57 AM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 1500 block of Avenue J. Firefighters arrived on scene to find the contents of a dumpster burning. Firefighters extinguished the fire.
*11:10 PM – BFD was called to a fire in the 1700 block of 6th Street. Fire crews arrived on scene to find nothing showing. Firefighters investigated and found that the water heater of the residence had shorted out. The power was turned off to the appliance and an electrician was contacted.
