Reports released for the week of March 17 – 23, 2013 from the Brownwood Fire Department include 31 medical emergencies, 7 fire calls, no motor vehicle accidents, 1 lock-in and 1 hazardous materials call.
Sunday, March 17
*3:22 PM – BFD responded to a fire call at a residence on Market Place Drive. Firefighters were dispatched to smoke in the area. Upon arrival, fire crews found a male burning grass, the fire was under control and owner was advised to call dispatch and register for a control burn.
Monday, March 18
*2:34 PM – BFD was called to an area of E US 377 regarding a grass fire; however, were cancelled en route.
*4:03 PM –BFD was dispatched to the 2400 block of Monterrey to investigate the loss of power at a residence. Oncor was notified and informed the fire department that they were working in the area.
Tuesday, March 19
*11:56 PM – BFD was dispatched to a hazardous materials call in the area of County Road 234 and Chapel Hill Road to investigate the sound of a possible gas leak and smell of gas. Firefighters found a valve with a missing cap. Atmos was contacted.Wednesday, March 20
*3:50 PM – BFD was called to a fire in the area of Spruce and Main Streets. Upon arrival, firefighters found a property owner burning trash in barrel outside the city limits.
Thursday, March 21
*6:19 PM – BFD was dispatched to the 300 Center Avenue regarding the report of a fire that had been extinguished by the occupant. Fire crews arrived on scene to find nothing showing; however, they found the inside of the residence full of smoke. The thermal camera did not detect any hot spots. Smoked was removed with fan.
Friday, March 22
*3:44 PM – BFD responded to the report of a child locked inside a vehicle in the 1500 block of Austin Avenue. Firefighters removed the child from vehicle without harm.
*4:12 PM – BFD was called to a fire in the 2500 block of Songbird Circle but were cancelled en route.
