Reports released for the week of January 1-8, 2012 from the Brownwood Fire Department indicate responses to 27 medical emergencies, 3 motor vehicle accidents, 6 fire calls, 1 false alarm, 1 hazardous materials call and 1 electrical call.
Sunday, January 1
*12:40am – BFD responded to a building fire in the area of Cleburne and Elm streets. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a single story church on fire. The fire was quickly knocked down. Fire Marshal was on scene.
*8:54am – BFD was dispatched to a false alarm in the 3800 block of 2nd Street. Firefighters arrived to find an alarm malfunctioning.
*11:03am – BFD was called to a fire in the area of Oak Hill Circle. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a controlled burn out of control. Booster line was used to extinguish fire.
Monday, January 2
*5:17pm – BFD responded to a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident at 11th Street and Avenue K. Firefighters checked for injuries and provided first aid.
*10:08pm – BFD was called to a fire in the 2300 block of Temple Avenue. Firefighters investigated the smell of smoke in the area; however, nothing was found.
Tuesday, January 3
* 7:42pm – BFD was dispatched on a fire call in the 1800 block of County Road 234. Fire crews arrived to find a trash pile burning. The fire was extinguished.
Wednesday, January 4
*11:13am – BFD responded to a two-vehicle accident on the Truman Harlow Overpass. Firefighters checked for injuries and provided first aid.
*1:04pm – BFD was called to an electrical problem, a power line down, in the 2800 block of Hwy 279. A power line was struck by a delivery truck.
*4:48pm – BFD was dispatched to an alarm activation in the 1700 block of Vincent Street. Fire crews arrived on scene to find light smoke coming from the side door of the house. Smoke was coming from fireplace and the flue was not open the report states. A ventilation fan was used to remove smoke.
*6:05pm – BFD was called to a fire in the 1600 block of Main Blvd. Firefighters responded to smoke in the area and arrived on scene to find a pile of leaves burning. Occupants were advised occupants of city fire codes.
Thursday, January 5
*3:59pm – BFD responded to a two-vehicle accident at Avenue K and Durham Avenue. Firefighters checked for injuries and provided first aid.
Saturday, January 7
*7:28pm – BFD responded to a hazardous materials call. Firefighters investigated the smell of gas in the area of Coleman and Melwood Streets where a pop-off valve was dispersing gas. Atmos was notified.
