Reports released for the week of January 23rd through January 29th from the Brownwood Fire Department indicate responses to 17 medical emergencies, 1 motor vehicle accident, 4 fire calls, 2 false alarms and 1 hazardous material call.

January 23
*5:48pm-BFD responded to a single vehicle accident in the 1700 block of 7th Street involving major injuries. Occupant was extricated from vehicle using rescue tools and transported to BRMC.
January 24
*6:55pm-BFD was dispatched to a vehicle fire in the 2300 block of Belle Plain. Upon arrival, fire crews found the fire had been extinguished by personal fire extinguisher. Firefighters investigated situation and applied additional extinguishing agents to the smoldering area.
January 25
*4:08pm-BFD responded to a hazardous materials call in the 3400 block of Hoover Avenue. The incident was determined to be a chemical spill or leak. Firefighters and the hazmat team performed detection, monitoring, sampling, and analyzing.
*6:08pm- BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 2100 block of Morris Sheppard. The investigation found the fire to be extinguished upon arrival.
January 26
*6:45am-BFD was called to a fire on W. Austin Avenue, Smitty’s Bar-B-Q. Fire crews arrived on scene to find smoke coming from the building. Firefighters extinguished the fire quickly and performed salvage, overhaul, and PPV. The Assistant Fire Marshal was called to investigate.
*12:04pm-BFD responded to a smoke scare. Fire fighters investigated the smell of smoke and nothing found.
*4:20pm- BFD was responded to a fire alarm in the 500 block of Commerce Square. The incident was determined to be a water problem. There was water found on first 3 floors which was caused by a ruptured pipe. A plumber and electrician were notified.
January 27
*4:11am-BFD was called to a fire in the 300 block of Mountain View Lane. Firefighters responded to a camper trailer that was on fire. Crews arrived on scene to find Lake Bridge VFD had the fire put out.
*2:49pm-BFD was dispatched to a grass fire in the 4600 block of FM 3100. Approximately 40 acres were burned and no structures were lost.
*7:37pm- BFD was dispatched to a fire in the 700 block of China Street. Dispatched to a structure fire, upon arrival firefighters discovered the fire to be a burn barrel in the back yard. Firefighters advised the occupant of city burn codes and had the owner extinguish the fire.
