Reports released for the week of December 4-10, 2011 from the Brownwood Fire Department indicates responses to 18 medical emergencies, 2 motor vehicle accidents, 6 fire calls, 3 hazardous material calls, and 3 electrical problems.

Sunday, December 4
*8:00am – BFD responded to a fire call in the 1000 block of Avenue G. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a single story structure with smoke showing. Fire Crews extinguished fire and performed overhaul.
*2:18pm – BFD was dispatched to a hazardous materials call at Austin Avenue & Avenue K. Firefighters were dispatched to investigate a strong smell of gas in the area, after investigation, nothing was found.
*2:56pm – BFD was dispatched to a hazardous materials call in the 1300 block of 10th Street. Fire crews investigated the smell of gas inside a residence. After investigation, a gas valve was found to have been left on. Fire fighters turned the gas off.
Monday, December 5
*8:28am – BFD was dispatched to a good intent call at 700 Fisk Avenue. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a guide wire lying on the ground. Oncor was on scene.
*5:47pm – BFD responded to an electrical problem in the 2400 block of Greenway. Investigation showed that electrical wires shorted in the attic. Smoldering insulation was removed and a thermal camera was used. The fire marshal was on scene.
*11:36pm – BFD was called to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Baker and Cordell. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a one vehicle rollover and no patient at the scene.
Tuesday, December 6
*4:23am – BFD was dispatched to a power line that was down in the 1000 block of Main Street. Fire crews managed scene.
*9:51pm – BFD was called to a fire in the1000 block of Baker Street regarding a structure fire. Fire crews extinguished the fire and searched for smoldering hot spots.
Wednesday, December 7
*6:10am – BFD responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of S Hwy 377 & FM 586 where fire crews performed extrication of a victim from the vehicle.
*9:17am – BFD was called to a building fire on County Road 198. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a two-story home with heavy smoke coming from the 2nd floor. Brownwood Fire Department crews along with Lake Bridge VFD and Bangs VFD extinguished the fire. The fire marshal was also on scene.
*9:07pm – BFD was called to a fire in the 2200 block of Temple which was a controlled burn.
Thursday, December 8
*3:20am – BFD was called to a fire in the 2200 block of Temple which was a controlled burn.
*3:18pm – BFD was dispatched to a grass fire in the 2900 block of Morris Sheppard. The small grass fire was extinguished by fire crews.
*9:38pm – BFD was dispatched to a hazardous materials call in the 2100 block of 13th Street where a carbon monoxide alarm had activated. The “sniffer” was used by fire crews; however nothing was detected.
Friday, December 9
*3:10am – BFD was called to a fire in the area of Asbury Court and Good Shepherd where fire crews found a transformer sparking. Oncor was notified.
