Reports released for the week of October 28-November 10, 2013 from the Brownwood Fire Department include 52 medical emergencies, 14 fire calls, and 6 motor vehicle accidents.
Monday, October 28
*6:34 PM – BFD was dispatched to a fire in the 1200 block of 1st Street. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a pit dug into the ground with wood burning in it. The residents were advised of city ordinance.
Wednesday, October 30
*2:14 AM – BFD was called to a fire in the 1600 block of 10th Street regarding the smell of wires burning. Fire crews arrived on scene to find nothing showing. The thermal camera was used inside the residence which resulted in nothing being detected.
*8:58 PM – BFD responded to a single vehicle accident with no injuries in the 4700 block of County Road 234.
*11:14 PM – BFD was called to a fire in the 1300 block of Avenue H. Fire personnel detected a gas leak and the gas was turned off.
Saturday, November 2
*1:43 PM – BFD responded to a two-vehicle accident with no injuries at the intersection of Coggin Avenue and Hwy 377S.*4:14 PM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 1500 block of Terrace Drive. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a dumpster on fire. Firefighters extinguished fire.
*10:42 PM – BFD was called to a fire in the 500 block of E. Commerce. The incident was determined to be an unintentional detector activation and there was no fire.
Monday, November 4
*9:31 AM – BFD responded to a two-vehicle accident in the area of Belle Plain and W. Commerce involving two vehicles. Firefighters assisted Guardian EMS with packaging of patient for transport to the hospital.
Tuesday, November 5
*2:20 PM – BFD was dispatched to a three-vehicle accident in the area of Crockett Drive and Hwy 377S involving 3 vehicles with one injury. Firefighters assisted Guardian EMS with packaging of the patient.
*6:40 PM – BFD was called to a fire in the 1000 block of Center. The incident was determined to be an alarm system malfunction. The fire alarm was restored.
*9:44 PM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 2700 block of Avenue E. Firefighters investigated a downed power line.
*7:48 PM – BFD was called to a fire in the 900 block of 6th Street. The incident was determined to be a shorted wire in the heater. The breaker was turned off and firefighters checked the residence for heat/fire but nothing was found. Residents were advised to contact an electrician.
Thursday, November 7
*2:52 PM – BFD was dispatched to a fire in the 3300 block of Stephen F. Austin. Atmos was on scene.
*3:34 PM – BFD responded to a two-vehicle accident in the 1500 block of Austin Avenue. Fire crews assisted in packaging and loading of driver for transport.
*2:13 PM – BFD was called to a fire call in the 2100 block of Slayden. The incident was determined to be a smoke/odor removal.
*4:14 PM – BFD responded to a two-vehicle accident with no injuries at Austin and Coggin Avenues.
Saturday, November 9
*11:09 AM – BFD was called to a fire in the 1600 block of 3rd Street regarding arcing wires. Oncor was notified.
*12:36 PM – BFD was dispatched to a fire in the 1000 block of Center Avenue. The incident was determined to be an alarm which had malfunctioned.
Sunday, November 10
*1:24 PM – BFD responded to the 900 block of Melwood Avenue for electrical problems. The breaker was shut off to a wall receptacle.
*6:41 PM – BFD was called to a fire in the 1400 block of Waco. Firefighters arrived on scene to find occupants burning in a barrel. Residents were informed of city ordinance and firefighters extinguished the fire.
