Sunday, September 26
*7:21pm-BFD responded to an outside fire in the 900 block of Crothers. Firefighters investigated a fire burning on a vacant lot. A fire pit with furniture surrounding it was found on scene. Subjects fled the scene when the fire department arrived. Fire crews extinguished the fire and filled in the pit with dirt. Fire Marshall will follow up to enforce codes.
*10:04pm-BFD was called to the 900 block of Coggin Avenue. Upon arrival a power pole that had been struck by a vehicle was found to be broken off at the ground. Oncor was notified to repair the pole.
Tuesday, September 28
*8:04am-BFD responded to a two vehicle motor vehicle accident in the 200 block of Garmon Drive. One patient was transported by Guardian EMS to Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
Wednesday, September 29
*1:40pm-BFD responded to a brush fire in the 8100 block of CR 267. Firefighters arrived on scene to find approximately 3 acres burning. The fire had spread from a trash pit burn. Early, Brookesmith, Bangs and Zephyr Volunteer units assisted with fire containment.
*7:21pm-BFD was called to the 2400 block of Coggin Avenue regarding an unintentional alarm activation. A bug bomb had activated the alarm system.
Friday, October 1
*2:24pm-BFD responded to a grass fire in the 7800 block of Hwy 45 in response to a report of several grass fires. The National Guard had put out the first of three fires. The second fire burned about 5 acres and the third fire burned approximately 3 acres. Brookesmith and Lake Volunteer Departments assisted on the scene.
Saturday, October 2
*6:08am-BFD was called to investigate the smell of smoke in the 300 block of Bluffview. Nothing was found; however, the breaker to the air conditioning was shut off and maintenance was contacted.
*8:44pm-BFD was called to investigate heavy smoke in the area of Austin Avenue and Avenue K. Investigation determined the smoke to be from a barbeque pit.
