Reports released for the week of October 2-8, 2011 from the Brownwood Fire Department indicate responses to 21 medical emergencies, 2 motor vehicle accidents, 1 fire call, and 4 utility hazards (3 of which were electrical).

Tuesday, October 4
* 6:14am – BFD responded to a fire call, assisted Bangs Volunteer Fire Department with a residential structure fire.
Wednesday, October 5
*4:27pm – BFD was called to a two vehicle accident with no injuries at Austin Avenue & Main Street.
Thursday, October 6
*6:57pm – BFD was dispatched to an unintentional alarm activation.
Friday, October 7
*3:34pm – BFD responded to a single vehicle accident on West US Hwy 67. Fire fighters checked for injuries and provided first aid.
Saturday, October 8
*12:32am – BFD was called to a hazardous condition in the 4200 block of Austin Avenue. The incident was determined to be an electrical problem. The thermal camera detected excessive heat coming from air conditioner motor. The breaker was turned off and the occupants were advised to contact an electrician.
*12:57am – BFD was called to a hazardous condition in the 4200 block of Austin Avenue. Fire crews were called back to scene for smell of smoke. An adapter on the refrigerator had shorted out. The thermal camera was used again but nothing detected. Occupants were advised to shut off electricity to the house and call an electrician.
*9:23am – BFD was advised of a utility problem in the 200 block of N. Center Avenue. Firefighters responded to a call for a utility pole leaning on a building. Verizon was notified.
*7:38pm – BFD responded to a call regarding electrical arcing at a residence in the 2200 block of Elizabeth Drive. Firefighters were dispatched regarding a wall socket smoking because of a power surge. Upon arrival, fire crews searched but found no fire or damage around wall outlet. House was searched but nothing found.
