Betty Fletcher passed from this life into Paradise, Sunday afternoon with family and caregivers by her side at the age of 84. Betty Ann Thornhill, daughter of Harold Thomas and Eula (Brewster) Thornhill was born August 31, 1932, in Independence, Kansas. The family moved to Pampa, Texas where she met her high school sweetheart and married Charles Allan Fletcher. He preceded her in death, August 16, 2006.
Betty was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and she cherished her family above all. A career homemaker and mother, Betty made a home for her family in whatever accommodations were available in the oilfields from Pampa to Houston and Truscott to Odessa, Texas. Abilene, Texas was her home from 1961 to 1971, then to Odessa from 1971 to 2012. She worked outside the home for brief periods in Abilene and Odessa to help her family.
She loved vacationing in the RV in the Colorado mountains with family and traveling the Hill Country of Texas to see bluebonnets in the spring.
Betty had many friends in all walks of life; her home was open to all. Her smile of encouragement and love through the good times and challenges of life for family and friends was one of many her gifts.
Betty is survived by her sister, Patrica Thornhill Riggin of Amarillo, Texas; her children, Debra Fletcher of Snyder, Texas, Wesley Fletcher and wife Maryanne of Brownwood, Texas, Larry Fletcher and wife Karla of The Woodlands, Texas; and family friend, Lary Taylor.
