A memorial service for Betty Cathey, age 80, of Coleman, Texas will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Brownwood. Cremation is under the direction of the Heartland Funeral Home of Early. Mrs. Cathey passed away Monday, December 1, 2014 in the Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo.
Betty Faye was born on May 24, 1934 in Austin, Texas to Jessie and Bertha Hughes Sanders. Growing up she lived in Blanket and later moved to Bangs where she graduated high school. On February 28, 1952 she married Audie William Cathey in Brownwood. Being a pastor’s wife she had resided in many places but, the last nine years in Coleman. She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Coleman and was a homemaker.
Survivors include four daughters Sandra Ratliff of Early, Melody Thames and husband Randy of Early, Robin Black and husband Doug of Brownwood, Genna Rivers and husband James of Stephenville. Eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
