Bette Lee Gafford, age 88, of Brownwood passed away Wednesday April14, 2010 in Brownwood. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00pm Sunday April 18, 2010 in Eastlawn Memorial Park. Visitation is set for Saturday April 17, 2010 at Davis-Morris Funeral Home, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.
Bette Lee Gafford was born September 10, 1921 in Sherman, TX, to Clarence and Carey McDaniel. She grew up in Dallas. Bette married Clyde Gafford in Rowlett, TX on May 30, 1949. Bette loved her family. She also loved to travel. During World War II she worked for the government. Bette helped raise 3 step-children, as well as her niece Janet Shampanore. She also dearly loved her dogs Misty and Mai Thai. Bette truly had a great joy for life.
She was the granddaughter of Judge B.L. James who was head Justice of 5th of Appeals, in Dallas. Mrs. Gafford was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Gafford, her parents, and her sister Jean Ailey. Survivors include her niece Janet Shampanore, and her Woodson and Jones cousins.
