BetoAndTheFairlanesThe Arts Council of Brownwood is pleased to announce that Beto and the Fairlanes will be performing on Thursday, May 14 at 7:00 p.m. in the newly-renovated Lyric Theatre in downtown Brownwood. The concert is made possible with a grant from Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA).

Beto and the Fairlanes began in the late 70’s as a dance-party-jam-band that mostly performed the compositions of Robert “Beto” Skiles, the group’s leader, pianist, and stand-up comedian. With excellent musicianship, very danceable rhythms, and a large dose of humor, Beto and the Fairlanes became enormously popular among a surprising mix of music lovers. According to the TCA website, their songs are “magical, cross-cultural incantations of salsa, jazz, rock, and Latin influences, irresistible dance rhythms, and visions of the tropics. In Beto and the Fairlanes’ hard-driving percussion, high-flying horns, and Beto’s natural sense of fun and humor, you feel the excitement, celebration, and romance of traditions, north and south, meeting in the melodies and beat of the music.”

Dancing to Beto beneath the stars became a truly Austin experience. The legendary venues of that time provided the catalyst for local bands like Beto, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Asleep at the Wheel, and Jerry Jeff Walker to develop Austin’s own unique style and culture. This incredible hot bed of artists, in turn, inspired the creation of the groundbreaking music show, “Austin City Limits.” Now in their 38th year, and with their latest release, Merry TeXmas, Beto and the Fairlanes continue to delight concert audiences as well as pack the dance floor.  For more information about Beto and the Fairlanes please visit their website:  www.betoandthefairlanes.com.
