Bessie “Granny” Hull, 87, of Santa Anna, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2016, in her home in Santa Anna. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, February 6, 2016, at the Haven of Hope Church in Brownwood.
Lillie Bessie “Granny” (Slate) Hull was born November 19, 1928 in Cross Cut, Texas, to Charlie Maze and Maggie May (Johnson) Slate. Bessie was a hard working woman who loved her family above all else. She loved to cook and was always looking to help anybody in need. They say Bessie never met a stranger. Bessie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and a “Granny” to everyone she met. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her and loved her. Her caregivers were Leona Carpenter and Trish Newton.Bessie is preceded in death by her husband, Frankie Newton Hull; her parents; her oldest son, Charles Herschel Hull; her son, Samuel Jacob Hull; two grandsons, Scott Daniel and J.R. Hull; her granddaughter, Letha Louise Spencer; 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
Bessie is survived by her children, Billy Ray Hull, Bobby Asher, Gloria Hull, Peggy Perkins, and Leona Carpenter; her sister, Lucy Mayo; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
