Bessie Faye (Hamlett) Johnson, age 87, of Brownwood, Texas went to be with her Lord on Monday, February 29, 2016 in Brownwood. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, March 4, 2016 at the Heartland Funeral Home in Early with David Barnum and Dr. Pepper Dill officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
Bessie was born on June 4, 1928 in Grosvenor, Texas to Bobbie Lipscomb and Elsie Mae Burnett Hamlett. A lifetime resident of Brownwood, Bessie was a retired bookkeeper for Inlow Shoe Store and a member of the Bangs First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters Sandra K. Johnson and Sylvia A. Emerson and by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.She was preceded in death by her father Bobbie L. Hamlett, mother Elsie Mae Burnett Hamlett, infant son Gayland Johnson, brothers Cecil, Harvey Lee and B.L. Hamlett and sisters Lilley Murle Hanna, Bertie Mae Mitchell, Letrice Hamlett, Ruby Jewell Lovell and Beatrice Snedal.
In lieu of flower memorials may be made to the Brown County Heart Association or the Bangs First Baptist Church Roof Fund.
Heartland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
