Saturday, April 30th a benefit truck & tractor pull will be held from 10am until 9pm in Santo, TX. This event has been created to aid the several organizations that were affected by the PK Fire Complex which burned over 126,734 acres in Stephens and Palo Pinto Counties.
Firefighters and rescue groups from across the state helped to save lives of people and their animals as well as property. Several firefighters from the Brown County area also helped battle this huge fire.
Many structures were lost, including 167 homes and two churches, in this complex of four fires that burned near Possum Kingdom Lake, Caddo, Strawn and Bunger. All of these communities faced evacuations and great loss.
The event is a Truck & Tractor pull that will be held Saturday, April 30 in Santo, TX. There will also be an antique tractor pull. It starts at 10am until 9 pm. There is a $10 gate admission fee and $20 pull fee. All proceeds from the tractor pull will benefit the following organizations:
- State of Texas Agriculture Relief Fund, or STAR Fund. (helping farmers rebuid)
- Palo Pinto Fire Relief – An Account created by The Red Cross of North Central Texas, Salvation Army and the Palo Pinto County United Way
- Palo Pinto County Emergency Management – To aid in the replenishment of supplies to The Palo Pinto General Hospital
- PK Firefighter Relief Fund – To support the firefighters who have bravely offered their energy and their lives to protect the lives and belongings of those around the PK Lake area (the fund will be divided between all fire departments).
In addition, monetary donations and supplies are being collected for the following:
- The Palo Pinto County Humane Society & The Community Animal Rescue Effort – Collecting Dog & Cat Food
- The CARE Group – Collecting Hay, Horse & Cattle Feed
- New Haven Helping Hands – Collection of nonperishable foods, clothing, household supplies
There is also a raffle for an S-400 type, 3.0, brand new turbo, with 360° thrust bearing, T-4 flange 1.0 turbine housing. Tickets for this raffle are $20 each.
