Friends of Matthew Duncan are hosting a fundraiser Saturday, August 23rd at 4 p.m.  The benefit will be held at Guitar Town USA, located at 901 Riverside Drive in Brownwood.

Duncan was injured in an accident with a train on April 12, 2014. He sustained many serious injuries including ribs being separated from his sternum, shattered hip, along with broken ankle, shoulder, and collar bone, not to mention a moderate brain injury, according to organizers.

His family has been by his side through 54 days he spent in a coma and 95 days in the hospital before he was released to a rehabilitation center.  Hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical bills have accumulated since the accident and Duncan has no insurance, according to friends.  They hope that the fundraiser will help his family (wife and daughters ages 16, 12, 10 and 8) with living expenses as well.  Since Duncan has not been able to work, the family has not had the money for bills, school clothes and supplies or many basic necessities.

Organizers hope to raise a minimum of $5000 with the sale of brisket or chicken plates, a silent auction, prayer balloons and much more during the benefit.  There will also be live music for entertainment during the event.

To order plates delivered to your business, to make a donation, or for more information please contact Tammy Saunders by calling 325-646-7407.
