BCWIDtransThe Brown County Water Improvement District Board approved an Order of Election for three seats and Notice of Director’s Election for May 12, 2012 at its regular meeting Tuesday evening.

The seats now occupied by Pierre Osbourn, Jay Timmins and Stewart Coleman will be eligible for election in May.

The board also approved an agreement and contract for election services with Brown County for conduction of the May election.

In other business, General Manager Dennis Spinks reported on lake conditions and current drought conditions. He told the board that on October 8, the lake reached its lowest level at 1,408.6 feet with 37.1 percent capacity. Currently the lake level is 1,411.7 feet with 46.28 percent capacity and 60,823 acre feet of water volume.

“We’ve had a couple of good rains but we’re still not out of the woods yet,” Spinks said. “We are still in a serious drought according to the lake levels.”

Spinks said there was a rise of 3.1 feet from when the October levels were recorded and an increase of 12,068 acre feet. He told the board that with more than 60,000 acre feet of water volume that gives the district about a 6 to 9 month supply of water in the lake.
