Big Brothers Big Sisters of Brown County held their signature fundraising event Wheels and Deals on Saturday and gave away a new vehicle.
The winner of the reverse raffle was Danny May who purchased the winning ticket with his mother Betty May of Brownwood.
Wheels and Deals was a reverse raffle where the last ticket drawn wins a brand new vehicle of their choice between a 2011 Ford Fusion, 2011 Jeep Compass or a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 4-door Crew Cab Pickup. Danny is currently looking at his options on which vehicle to choose, according to BBBS officials.
Raffle tickets were sold in exchange for a donation of $100 to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Brown County.
Organizers report that almost 500 tickets were sold for this year’s event.
The “Deal” part of the event began when the drawing was down to the final 10 entries and those at the event could bid on the final tickets if the ticket holder is willing to sell. Bids of $2250 and $4000 were turned down by two of the final contestants. May was not present at the event held at the Brownwood Country Club, but was contacted by organizers about the good news.
