The Howard Payne University men’s basketball team dropped their final game of the 2009-10 season 64-77 to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Saturday afternoon in the Brownwood Coliseum.
Brandon Irwin and senior Keith Perry finish the game with 20 points each. Perry also had three blocks, two steals, and two assists.
Theo Ard led UMHB with double double of 14 points and 13 rebounds. Ervin Johnson also finished with his own double double going for 12 points and 10 rebounds.
HPU shot for 42 percent on 24-57 shooting, including 5-15 from the arc. UMHB shot 39 percent from the floor.
At the half the Yellow Jackets trailed 43-32. UMHB extended their lead to 14 midway through the second half. The Jackets rallied to within 6, 62-68 with 4:08 to play in the game. UMHB outscored the Jackets 9-2 to end the game.
HPU finishes the season at 6-19 overall and 6-15 in the ASC. UMHB goes to 19-6 overall and 17-4 in the ASC.
