HPUlogoThe Howard Payne Yellow Jacket basketball team dropped their second game on their road trip to Indiana 67-81 to Anderson University Saturday afternoon. 

Anderson used a 14-2 run midway through the first half to open up a 16 point lead, 17-33. HPU cut it back to 9, 33-42 on a layup by Brandon Irwin with 1:19 left in the half. Two Anderson three-points and one by Irwin made the score 36-48 Anderson at the break. 

Howard Payne cut the Anderson lead to 6, 54-60 on a John Bryant three-pointer with 11:34 to play. The shot capped a 10-0 HPU run. Bryant scored 8 of the 10 points. Anderson put together another run and extended their lead to as much as 21. Anderson when on to post the 67-81 win.

Zane Smith led the Yellow Jackets with 16 points and 7 assists followed closely by Brandon Irwin with 15 points. John Bryant came off the bench and scored 10 and was perfect from the field, 4 of 4, two were three-pointers.

Anderson was led by Brock Morrison with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Ty Riddle had 18 and Andrew Morris followed with 14 points and 10 rebounds. 

Howard Payne falls to 2-9 overall and Anderson improves to 11-1 on the year. The Jackets will return to Texas and travel to Sul Ross State on Tuesday for an ASC match-up.
