HPUlogoIn a game of seven home runs, the Howard Payne Baseball team lost 21-5, after Texas Wesleyan scored a combined 13 runs in the eighth and ninth inning.

The winds were strong, blowing 30-40 mph from left to right. The game was played at Morris Southall Field of Brownwood HS due to field conditions at Don Shepard Park.

The Rams led HPU 7-3 at the end of five innings. From that point, they would outscore HPU 14-2 in the final four.

 

Kyle Lloyd went 1-2 at the plate including a solo home run in the third. Carlton Brown was 2-3, with a double and a run scored. Ryan Klose was 1-3 with a two-run home run in the eighth. The Rams, Travis Spencer, went 4-6 with two home runs with six RBIs

Starting HPU pitcher Dustin Climer gets the loss allowing three earned runs in two innings of work. TWU pitcher, Kody Thiebaud, gets the win for the Rams on two innings, striking out one batter.

The Yellow Jackets go to 8-6 on the season and Texas Wesleyan University moves to 9-5.

The next game for HPU is at 2 p.m. Friday, March 12 at Don Shepard Park against Concordia University.
