Funeral services for Barbara Kidd, age 69, of Brownwood, will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 3, 2020, in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00. Cremation will follow under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home.
Barbara passed from this life on Friday, February 28, 2020 in Brownwood.
Barbara Anne Twitchell was born on August 30, 1950 in Norfolk, Virginia to Donald Dexter and Betty Louise (Collins) Twitchell. She married Alton Lee Kidd on April 12, 1972 in Reno, Nevada. She attended Midland College where she took courses in accounting. Barbara and Alton later moved to Brownwood where she opened the original Wal-Mart store in Brownwood. She had a long career with Wal-Mart, including 10 years in management. Barbara enjoyed her family, crafts, trivia games, art, writing and travel. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Brownwood and loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Alton Lee Kidd, Jr. of Brownwood, a son, James Kidd and wife Tiffany and a daughter, Amber Dudley and husband Robbie, all of Brownwood; five grandchildren, Dewayne Dudley, Lourie Pruett, Cade Patteson, Madison Rhea and Ashlynn Patteson; two sisters, Donna Cecil and husband Donnie and Lourie Zachry and husband Howard and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Donald Dexter Twitchell, Jr.
The family requests memorials be made to Nanook and Nakodas Big Paw Rescue.
