Bangs Police Department is undergoing a makeover of sorts with new patrol car decals, new uniforms and a new vehicle.
Their new Chief of Police Jorge Camarillo told officers, “We have a new chief, we are building a new police department and now it’s time for more of a professional look,” said Officer Mike Isbell. In October of 2014, Camarillo was hired as a patrol officer with Bangs Police Department and quickly earned the position of Chief in December. Isbell was also hired in October of 2014 after having served as a reserve deputy for the Brownwood Sheriff’s Office. Being back on patrol, according to Isbell, has been very enjoyable.
The new image of the patrol vehicles is pictured above and many citizens have commented that the vehicles are very easily identifiable. Before, the vehicles had only black 10-inch letter which read “Bangs Police.” Isbell stated that all of the comments have been positive toward the new look. He pointed out that the graphics on the vehicles feature a newly designed logo of the Bangs PD, which is also being used on the patches on the officers’ uniforms.
The department’s two pickup trucks were rebranded this week and another pickup (a 2015 Ford F-150) which will be added to the department’s fleet in mid to late February, will also have the new design. There are three patrol vehicles in Bangs, all of which will carry the new graphics.
The Bangs PD will soon be at full staff as one final officer is soon to be hired.
