A one-vehicle rollover accident claimed the life of a Bangs man early Sunday morning.

Law enforcement officials report that the accident occurred around 1 a.m. Sunday at the top of Bangs Hill, just west of Brownwood on U.S. Highway 67.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety officials, William Hite Trosper, 48 years of age from Bangs, Texas was pronounced dead at Brownwood Regional Medical Center by Judge Walter Croft at 1:34 a.m.  The body was taken to Heartland Funeral Home.  Next of kin have been notified.  Trosper was not wearing a seatbelt, according to officials.

DPS reports state that Trosper was driving a 1998 Chevrolet pickup eastbound on U.S. Highway 67.  As he approached a curve, he crossed over into the westbound lane and onto the westbound shoulder.  The vehicle went into a side skid and overturned.  The driver was ejected.

Texas Department of Public Safety, Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Brownwood Fire & Rescue, and Guardian EMS responded to the scene.

DPS Trooper Michael Anthony Sams is investigating the crash.
