August is National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM). This annual observance highlights the importance of getting recommended vaccines throughout your life. You have the power to protect yourself and your family against serious diseases like whooping cough, cancers caused by HPV, and pneumonia with vaccines.

During NIAM, Brownwood-Brown County Health Department encourages you to talk to your doctor or other healthcare professional to ensure you, your child, and your family are up to date on recommended vaccines.

We also encourage you to visit www.cdc.gov which provides information on vaccines recommended during pregnancy and throughout your child’s life.

With just weeks before school starts, this is a good time of year to make sure your kids are up-to-date on their vaccinations. Get your children vaccinated; it’s one of the best ways to protect them and their classmates from diseases.
