The Early Chamber of Commerce held their 34th annual awards banquet Tuesday night at the Early First United Methodist Church.
Master of ceremonies Rex Tackett recognized the work and accomplishments for the last year of the Early Chamber board and ambassadors. Guests were also treated to the music of the Early Jazz Combo Ryan Contreras and Abe Cooper.
Key individuals were also recognized for their work and contributions to Early with special awards.
Business of the Year for 2012 was Early Blooms and Things recognizing owners Harlan and Lori Hohertz.
Citizen of the Year was Early Mayor Robert Mangrum.
The Special Appreciation Award was given of Sgt. Steven Means of the Early Police Department.
This year’s Appreciation Award was given to Larry Bartley.
Member of the Year was awarded to Tim Espinoza.
Ambassador of the Year was awarded to Lisa Callihan
Emcee Rex Tackett was also recognized for his upcoming Texas Radio Hall of Fame induction.
Several teachers at Early ISD were also recognized at the banquet. Kerri Jacobson was awarded Primary Teacher of the Year, Debbie Hagood was awarded Elementary Teacher of the Year, Hilary Baucom was awarded Middle School Teacher of the Year, and Ray Jones was awarded High School Teacher of the Year. Judy Reed was also recognized for her award as Texas Region 15 Teacher of the Year.
