Avis Jane Cooley, age 51, of Blanket passed away Friday April 26, 2013.
Funeral services for Avis will be held Wednesday May 1, 2013 at 11:00am at the Blaylock Funeral Chapel of San Saba with Sam Crosby officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in San Saba. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Tuesday evening at Blaylock Funeral Chapel of San Saba.
Avis was born on July 14, 1961 to Albert and Rosa Lee Clopton in San Marcos, Texas. She married Oran Bates and together they had a son and two daughters.
Avis leaves behind son Greg Cooley of Blanket; daughters Laura Bates and Crystal Bates of Blanket; Six grandchildren; Sisters Shirley Kemmitz and husband Michael of Early, Sheila Smith and husband Sonny of San Saba, Dale Lopez and husband Joe of San Saba, Gale Clopton and Armen Norman of Abilene, Wanda Woods of San Saba; Brother Nathan Daughtery of San Saba; and numerous nieces, nephews, and family members.
She is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Rosa Lee, husband Oran Bates, two sisters Abigail Clopton and Tillie Dubose.
