Funeral services for Alvis Connell, 68, of Early, formerly of the Mitchell and Winkler County areas, will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, in the Netherton Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Cory Morris officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Monday, February 11, at the funeral home.
Mr. Connell passed away on February 9, 2013, at the Mitchell County Hospital in Colorado City following his battle with cancer.
Alvis Ray Connell was born on July 16, 1944, in Brownwood Texas to Thomas Elmo Davis and Margie Dell May Davis. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War then worked in various positions in the oilfield industry around the West Texas area before becoming a correctional officer. He later retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after many years of service. His favorite pastime was fishing and hunting.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are sons, Jeromy Connell and wife Margo, of Loraine, and Thomas Connell and wife Rebecca, of Westbrook; daughters, Kristian Roemer and husband John, of Big Spring, Shanna Wilson and husband Robert, of Colorado City and Wendy Snowden of Junction.He was also the proud grandfather of Britteny, Shelby, and Tori Roemer, Stetson, Brianna, Aubri, and Skyer Jones, Emmy Snowden, Dakota Palmer, Brianna Lathers, Bailey Connell and Jonathan and Mason Connell. He is also survived by his mother, Margie Davis of Brownwood; two brothers, Kenneth Davis and Bobby Davis and wife Pat, of Kermit, and nephew Bruce Stiles and his family of Brownwood .
He was preceded in death by his father, Elmo Davis and his sister, Brenda Brandstetter.
