Ava Nell Nentwig, age 95, of Brownwood passed away, after a short illness, Monday January 24, 2011 in Brownwood. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel, with Tim Skaggs officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, January 26, 2011, from 6:00pm until 7:00pm at Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Ava Nell Nentwig was born January 16, 1916 to Josie and Murray McDonald, in Holder, TX. Ava Nell was a homemaker and worked for Harry Cochran Furniture for many years. She was an original member of “The 12 Month Birthday Club” for 64 years. The birthday members enjoyed monthly lunches and a lifelong friendship. Ava Nell was a member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church since 1926, remaining faithful in gifts and services. She lived at the Tanglewood Estates until recently moving to The Chatfield. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for your many expressions of love and support during this time of loss. A very special thank you to the caring staff and friends at The Chatfield. Ava Nell was preceded in death by her husband Ernest; they had been married 51 years. Her only daughter Ernestine Nentwig Pruiett, her great-grandson Jim Bo Frierson, and her brother Dyrice McDonald also preceded her in death.
She is survived by one son, Donald Nentwig and wife Ann, of Irving, TX, grandson David Nentwig, granddaughters Janice Frierson, Lou Jean Click, Patricia Johnson, 8 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-great-grandchild.
