The Auto Technology department at Brownwood High School sent two students to district and state competition this year, John Ivy and Jose Avila. John took a Chevrolet starter, and Jose took a Chrysler alternator. Both young men won first place in District, which was held in Waco in February. John had a score of 100, and Jose had a score of 98.
At the State Competition in Corpus Christi in March, John won first place, with a score of 95 on his starter, and Jose won second place with a score of 85 on his alternator. Both students did exceptionally well, as there were over 1000 entries in the Automotive Projects Contest.
“I am very proud of these students and their accomplishments,” said Auto Tech instructor, Allen Crofford. “They have worked very hard this year and certainly deserve this achievement.”
